Acoustic Rehearsal
These are some recordings of an acoustic session, I did with Likn. It's supposed to give an idea of how an acoustic concert would sound with me. That's a concept I haven't been using that much in concert, but hopefully I will very soon.
Fortral
Fortral was an ambient type jam band, consisting of me, Jóhann Gunnarsson on bass, and Finnur Hákonarson on electronics. Enjoy!
internet exclusive tracks
These are various tracks that have been a one off collaberation with people, and dont really fit in anywhere. Mokkasónata is me and Gímaldin, and was made with samples exclusively from Mokka café. Blodappelsinur was a piece a did to a poem by Þórdís Björnsdóttir, to her book of poems. Hope you enjoy it.
Death & Resurrection
These are recordings Ive been devoloping for years. They started out about 4 years ago, when I realized I needed a more song oriented approach to my music. That said, in the end its a kind of Art Rock project. The industral inspiration also comes from wanting to realize my heavy metal influences. These days Im working with Gardar: drums, and Gunna: bass on completing this, but there were many musicians who made a contribution, for example Hallgrimur on cello, and Petur Mar who played drums on Daudi og Upprisa.
Líkn
Líkn was an attempt on forming a band around my songs. I wanted to go back to kind of organic sounding rock, were the music would flow naturally, based on live playing, jamming and such things. Ill always like that mood of playing. We recorded this in the fall of 2004, in a garage we rented. The album was then mixed by Georg. The album is currently being released by andrymi records.
ep1
This was an Ep of songs I was writing around the time. Recorded in the spring of 2004, this features Sabine Hill, soprano singer, Babel on drums, who was studying theatre in the art school, and Georg on bass.
Ofbirting
Ofbirting was a realisation of ambient music I had been writing around the time. Somewhat inspired by my collaberation with Johann Gunnarsson, this was focused on computer and guitar effects. I played this in Berlin in the spring of 2003, on a bus ride, which was organized by Wolfgang Muller.
Awaiting Suffocation
Electronic industrial compositions. They were programmed on Super Studio Session on a Macintosh SE, and then recorded along with some guitar on an 8 track.
Dr. Benways Trio
This is a project consisting of beat poetry by Stina, and improvised compositions by Vardi: guitar and Valdimar K. Sigurjonsson: Contrabass. The project was realized on my last year of studying in the higschool of Menntaskólinn við Hamrahlíð. An earlier recording was made on my 4track but lost. This is from a concert we held at Gallery Geysir on the unglist festival in 1998. Thanks to Arnar Steinn who recorded this on his minidisc, this is the only surviving recording of the project. The songs were made up as an inspiration from Stinas poetry or vice versa, but which way we just improvised until we had a song structure which we then would keep but variate.
Las Casas
Music created by Varði and Jón Indriðason for the play Las Casas by Þorvarður Helgason. Þorvarður came to me in the spring of 1998 and asked me to write music for a play he was setting up in Hamrahlid. THis is a radio play, which is about the genocide of the indians at the time of Cristofer Columbus. I asked Nonni to work with me on this, and we tried to stick to something a bit indian sounding. The only gear available to us was one synth, a guitar effects unit, and an 8 track.
